Blaze King, HearthStone, Regency, Jotul and Lopi sit on the wood side of the floor. Gas covers freestanding, direct vent, ventless, cast iron, contemporary and traditional. Pellet covers freestanding, insert, multi-fuel, automated, high-efficiency and compact.

Sizing a stove to the room, not to the house.
Oversizing is the usual mistake. A stove too big for the room gets damped down to keep the space bearable, burns cool, and lays creosote in the flue you'll be paying to sweep.
Soapstone and cast iron hold heat differently, and that changes which size is actually right for the room you're heating.
